The History of Quorn Gas Works, the Brinks, established 1854

There is little sign today of the Quorn Gas Works that were situated on the Brinks in Leicester Road. What is incredible is the speed in which the gas works and supply network was put in place to serve the streetlights and later properties and businesses not only in Quorn but Mountsorrel and Barrow as well. From sources including the Quorn Village Online Museum (www,quornmuseum.com), the British Newspaper Archive and Mr Leonard Kemp‘s Quorndon magazine article of 2004, Dennis Marchant has pieced together a brief history of the Quorn Gas Works.
