Frank Facer and The Hall on the Green, Quorn

Harry Facer and his wife Ann moved to Quorn in the 1860s and had eleven children, so the family became well established in Quorn and a familiar name with different branches of the family following different routes.

In February 1999, Joan Woodland (née Facer) wrote a short unillustrated article for The Quorndon magazine about Facer’s hardware shop situated on Station Road, which was owned by her grandfather, Frank Facer, until the 1940s.

In 1922 Joan’s daughter-in-law, Gill Woodland, contacted the Museum Team and together with Sue Templeman, the original item was reproduced with illustrations and additional family information. This was published in The Quorndon/Village Life in 2023. See .pdf file below.

The article has since been updated (2025) with additional information and photographs supplied by Gill.
