Poll Book 1841 – Quorndon Entries

Poll books were the pre cursor to today’s electoral rolls and were published from the late 1600s through to 1872 when the secret ballot was introduced. Generally, before 1832, only freeholders (land and property owners) could vote, although this could vary from region to region. After the 1832 Reform Act, certain tenants also qualified.

Poll books usually recorded both the voters and the way they voted, but this poll book from 1841 only recorded those 82 people eligible to vote.
