Freehold Street
According to 'Bygone Quorn in Photographs' published in 1984, this photograph was taken in 1945, when the street was preparing for VE day celebrations. However in May 2022, Jennifer Warren, whose mother Phyllis was born in Quorn, recognised her grandmother, Sarah Ann Birkin (the left of the two women), who lived at 12 Freehold Street and died in April 1937. It is therefore thought that this photo was taken in May 1935 when the street was decorated for King George V's Silver Jubilee!
