Mr Murray Rumsey
Loughborough Echo - 12th January 1945
Mr Murray Rumsey, Loughborough Echo correspondent for Quorn, Rothley and Mountsorrel celebrated his 70th birthday on Thursday. He is a well-known figure in the district and has been on the staff of the Echo for many years.
As a Lay Reader he is occupied most Sundays in taking services at churches in the district and his connection with St Bartholomew's Church, Quorn, has been a long one. To celebrate the occasion the parishioners are to make a presentation to him.
He is a brother of the late Canon H H Rumsey, who was Vicar of Quorn for many years. Mr Rumsey, who was at one time a member of one of the London cathedral choirs, has a tenor voice of some merit and has been in constant demand in the district for many years at functions, where he is always a popular visitor. He has been known to give a song during a sermon in church.
He is a man of many parts and has a versatile and interesting career. He walks many miles each day and is an excellent news gatherer.
