Quorndon Allotment Society

This group may be the Quorn Allotment Society and looks as if it dates from the 1920s.

This information was contributed by Alan Wastnage:
The gentleman second left, front row is John Hallam Towell, my grandfather. His daughter, my mother, was Edna May Wastnage late of Barrow Road, Quorn and Abbeyfield. She was the second resident to move into Abbeyfield when it opened and resided there happily until 2001.

The photograph is most probably the Quorndon Allotment Society of which John Hallam Towell became a member on 29th September 1921. His Share Certificate is signed by Samuel Hallam, T G Turlington and Wm Swinfield. Maybe one or other of those gentlemen can be identified as being on the photograph. By 1935 there was also an E Bowler.

Could the gentleman back row, second from left possibly be Samuel Hallam?
