1932/33 Quorn Wesleyan Football Team
Quorn Wesleyans were a forerunner of the current (2026) Quorn Football Club. According to John (Jack) Field in his book ‘Quorn Football Club – 36 Years of Village Football’, published in 1960 (Artefact 1669), it was in 1932/33 when they won the John Gregory Alliance Medals and County runners up medals, which started a period of rising success. At this time the club played on a field next to the Manor Hotel on Woodhouse Road.
This photograph is a specimen from which prints were ordered. 14 people ordered copies. These were: E Orton, J Field, E Kent, S Smith, R Gamble, L James, C Lovett, J Boyer, K Rennocks, F Robertson, A Brown, W Stirling, K Hopewell, D Stirling.
The names of the people on the photograph weren’t noted, but from previous photographs and other sources, the following can be fairly positively identified:
1 – Winston Stirling (Treasurer)
4 – K Rennocks
8 – W Axten
10 – A Brown (Trainer)
11 – Eric Kent
13 – John (Jack) Field
16 – C Lovett
18 – Ron Gamble
Assuming that people who bought a copy all appear on the picture, E Orton, S Smith, L James, J Boyer, F Robertson, K Hopewell and Donald Stirling, must be on there somewhere!
Can you identify anyone else?
