Aylward and Son, electrical shop, High Street, Quorn
Frederick and Elizabeth Aylward moved to Quorn in about 1935. They lived on Loughborough Road and Frederick described himself as a Radio Dealer, running his shop from High Street, next to the White Hart pub.
Frederick was joined in the business by the couple’s younger son, Kenneth Buxton Aylward, who lived at 3 Castledine Avenue with his wife Rachel. Sadly Kenneth died in 1960 aged just 50 years old, and the business was bought by David Halford.

The first shows Kenneth standing outside his shop in the 1950s.
The second illustrates where the shop was situated, next to the White Hart on High Street. The Ecko sign can just be seen sticking out. A larger version of this street scene can be seen at Artefact 1982.
