Gartshore family, 15 High Street Quorn, 1960s
The elderly couple in these photographs are George Harry Gartshore and his wife Olive, taken at their home in the 1960s at 15 High Street. Their house was next to the old Methodist Church on land that is now part of Church View Gardens. You can just see the Church tower in the background.
George Harry was born in Quorn on 4th March 1890 and was a grandson of the famous George Gartshore who was a farrier to the Quorn Hunt. On 9th September 1916 he married Olive Cutts in Quorn Church. The fourth photograph was taken when George and Olive were celebrating their golden wedding anniversary in September 1966.
