Stone throwing at Quorn 1897

Wednesday - Before Rev R Burton (in the chair), the Mayor (Ald H Coltman), Capt. Heygate, Messrs R Whitely and F Winser
James Lovett, carrier, and Wm Sutton, labourer, both of Quorn, were charged with throwing stones in High Street, Quorn, on the 1st inst.- PC Grant stated that he saw the defendants throwing at a lamp against the Grammar School. They ran away when they saw him. He caught Sutton, and he said they were throwing at a mark on the wall. Sutton gave his Christian name as William, but he had since ascertained that that was his brother's name, and his was Thomas. The Bench put the case back for a week, and fined Lovett, who pleaded guilty 5s or five days.
NB: Sutton was fined 5s on 18th March.
