Quorn School reports, 1918 and 1949
The first of these school reports belonged to Muriel Olive Gamble, when she was 11 years old, in 1918, in her first year at Rawlins. Apparently Muriel had made a ‘fairly good’ start, although she was rather talkative! Note that whilst the girls did needlework, the boys did ‘sloyd’. This is basically bench based woodwork.
The second report dated 1949, belongs to Ian Aitken, Muriel’s son and relates to his first year in the juniors at St Bartholomew's Primary School. It is interesting that a pupil’s height and weight were recorded at this time.
