Station Road, Quorn

A everyday scene looking down Station road in about 1910. It is interesting that most of the men and boys are wearing hats and most of the women and girls are wearing pinafores – how times change!

The shop on the far left has a Fry’s chocolate sign in the window and was run by Sophie Teagle, whose husband Walter was a chimney sweep. The 1911 census shows Walter and Sophie living in this property with their nine children.

The shops on the right are displaying adverts for Cadbury’s chocolate and Colman’s starch.
