Opening of the new Methodist Wesleyan Chapel, Quorn
These photographs were taken by William Shuttlewood, a Quorn photographer and chemist, at the opening of the new Methodist Wesleyan Chapel on High Street on 25th September 1907. The foundation stones had been laid on 1st April 1907 (see artefact 73), so the Chapel only took 6 months to build. It replaced the old Chapel at the rear of the premises (see artefact 873).
From the angles, it looks as if William Shuttlewood was standing in an upstairs room of the (old) Bull's Head pub, (now 18 High Street).
The Church building still remains, and from the outside, looks little different, however it has now been converted into flats (see artefact 1261).
