Quorn Co-op milk bottle
A half pint milk bottle from the Quorn Co-operative Society.
Etched in red on the bottle is "PURE MILK QUORN CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY"
Embossed on the back is "Please rinse and return"
The bottle top is made of cardboard. There is a picture of a cow, over which is a banner which says "ENSURES YOUR HEALTH". Underneath is written "Fresh Daily".
Kate Hutchinson who kindly donated the bottle, remembers as a child, pushing out the middles of cardboard tops and using two of them to make pom poms.
Etched bottles became possible in the 1920s and cardboard tops were discontinued in the 1950s, as they were deemed to be 'unhygienic'. However can anyone help with a more accurate date for the milk bottle?
