The Gas House, 106 Leicester Road, Quorn, 1961
This rare photograph of the 'Gas House' on Leicester Road was taken in 1961 by the Brown family, who lived there between 1960 and 1965. The house was demolished shortly after they left. You can see one of the old gasometers in the background. The site is now occupied by 'The Brinks'.
Quorn Gas Works ceased to produce gas in 1938, but the gasometers were still used to store gas up until they were demolished in the 1960s.
