Floods in the Early 1980s

This photograph shows Ruth Iley from Farnham Street (in her twenties), standing outside the memorial gardens Quorn Cross, during floods in the early 1980s.

Although flood prevention measures had been undertaken, a period of prolonged heavy rain still caused problems that people thought were a thing of the past.
