Quorn Scouts celebrate - 1957

Loughborough Monitor - February 15th 1957

The jubilee of the Scout movement was celebrated in Quorn Village Hall on Saturday by the 2nd Quorn Scout Group holding a successful jubilee bazaar.

Mr S A Cox, chairman of the group, presided and the bazaar was opened by Mr S F Peshall. The hall was packed and it was not long before many of the stalls had completed their function and "sold out". Scouts and cubs were there in profusion and ably assisted the ladies of the committee, who took charge of a number of stalls. Proceeds were in aid of Group funds, and it is understood that a substantial sum will realised.

In the evening an outstanding event took place - the presentation of awards following a camp fire. Those to receive the awards were: P/L Philip Gamble, P/L Tony Roadley, P/L Graham Cox and Scout Bobby Prevost. The Scoutmaster, Mr Godfrey Philips was presented with his Wood Badge.

The awards were presented by the District Commissioner, Mr T. M Ll Walters, of Loughborough.
