Wooden Bowl from The Bull's Head, Quorn
This turned oak bowl was purchased from a Sue Ryder charity shop in Gatley, Cheshire. It was made by Murray Rumsey in 1939, from a beam taken from the ‘Bull’s Head Hotel’ – which is now the Quorndon Fox. The brass plaque on the side says:
"Made from an old oak beam, dated 1742 taken from the cellar of the 'Bulls Head Hotel', Quorn. Formerly known as Quorn Place. Oct 1939".
The bowl is 3 inches (8cm) tall and 6 inches (15cm) diameter.
Note that when the property was a coaching inn, it was known as the Swan with Two Necks.
