Loughborough Road, Quorn, early 1900s
Looking towards the top of the village with the Bowls Club wall on the left and Rawlins on the right.
Loughborough Road at this location outside Rawlins is now a busy spot. The traffic lights were installed due to the many pedestrians at the start and finish times of the college. The tall house immediately behind the two men is Rose Cottage which was demolished in the 1960s. The other tall building to the left (almost hidden behind the tree) is The Hurst, a building which has seen many uses. It was home to the Wright family, used as an ATS billet in WW2, became a bar and restaurant, before eventually becoming a Chinese restaurant. It was demolished in 2014 and replaced with a new Co-op supermarket.
